Welcome

Welfare Justice was born as an initiative of Caritas, The Anglican Church (through its Social Justice Commission) and BAFNZ (the Beneficiary Advocacy Federation of New Zealand).

Between June and December 2010, the six Commissioned members of the Welfare Justice - Alternative Welfare Working Group held public meetings, received submissions and reflected on changes needed to our Social Welfare system from the perspective of beneficiaries and community groups.

They have released two reports which are a significant contribution to the current welfare reform debate.  They can be downloaded from this website, or printed copies are available from the Caritas office (while stocks last) www.caritas.org.nz/

For additional papers and resources from the group and other sources, see our resources section
